A page from "Kano"

Okay, I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post this yet......but here goes. I haven't posted anything in a while because I've been busy with my current job (illustrating this kid's book about the founder of judo), and planning my honeymoon to Italy.... That's right, I said honeymoon. I know we've been married almost 2 years already, but since this is our first trip alone together anywhere....it is our honeymoon.
And about this illustration.....the story is set in the mid-1800's in Japan. Here, the hero of the story , Jigoro Kano, is 11 years old. He is walking down a busy street of a Japan newly open to foreign lands. To the left of the image, we see examples of older, traditional japanese culture, and to the right, a bit of the western world creeps in.

Xoe, Buster, & Bimple

This is an acrylic painting I did for the Tsunami Relief auction that Maverix Studios put on a while back. I sewed a boder of cream silk and turquoise wool around it for added pizazz. ;)

The Cowardly Lion Sleeps...

This is a concept I did of the Cowardly Lion from the Wizard of Oz asleep in the cursed field of poppies. Surrounding the lion are the bones of other creatures who suffered the same fate, but had no one to rescue them. The Tinman and the Scarecrow are carrying Dorothy to safety in the distance.

Medusa

This is a character design I did of Medusa. It was published in the art annual Aphrodisia, Vol. 1

Bad Guy Nazis

Here is a Nazi General, and a Hitler Youth to add to my "bad guy" characters.

Sweetpeas

Gangsters

Here are some old school gangsters: the gangster boss on top, his moll below, and a henchman at the bottom.

Terraced Mountain

Here is an environment that I did for fun.

Springtime Meditation

Hi everybody, since I am working on a children's book right now, and can not yet post those illustrations, I thought I'd share one of the color comps I did that landed me the gig.
........hopefully I can post more stuff soon!

Thousand Robins

For my very first post, here is an illustration I've recently done called "Thousand Robins". I was inspired by my friend's band "Thousand Robins". They rock. You can check out some of their songs on their myspace page:

or check out their website that's still in progress:

Rock on!
